Tomatoes
Versatile fruit for fresh eating, cooking and sauces; included in our planned protected crop range.
A planned project for 500 greenhouses on a 200-feddan site in Najd, diversifying vegetables and selected fruit crops.
We plan a phased development, starting with site and water assessment and growing-system trials, then expanding implementation based on results. Target crops include tomatoes, sweet peppers, cucumbers, courgettes and strawberries.
These figures describe the planned project scope. Individual greenhouse size, site layout and implementation phases will be defined in detailed design.
PROTECTED FARMING · DEVELOPMENT PLANCrop and technology choices follow trial results; protected farming does not by itself guarantee year-round production.
Review water salinity and quality, temperature and humidity, ventilation, shading and cooling needs, then compare operating costs with the target market.
Begin with a limited unit and measure saleable production, water and energy use. Assess pest management, food safety and operating skills before scaling up.
These references support planning principles; they are not a site study or an endorsement of our projects.
The following crops are part of our development plan. Explore their characteristics and discuss our plans for growing them.

Versatile fruit for fresh eating, cooking and sauces; included in our planned protected crop range.

Crisp fruit for salads and cooking, included in our greenhouse development plan.
The national figure covers all pepper types, not sweet peppers alone.
Discuss plans for sweet peppers ↗
A crisp crop for fresh eating and salads, included in our greenhouse development plan.

Tender fruit for cooking and grilling, among the vegetables we plan to grow in greenhouses.

Delicate, aromatic fruit for fresh eating and desserts, included in our plans to diversify greenhouse production.
Table 2-5 does not list strawberries separately; the other-fruit total is not attributed to this crop.
Discuss plans for strawberries ↗A crop for a separate pilot: test variety, season, cooling needs and product quality before adopting commercial production.
National figures cover different growing methods; they are not greenhouse-only or Al-Ataa production figures.
The greenhouse plan takes the different growing requirements of each crop into account.
Irrigation needs and water management are priorities in planning this development.
The greenhouse plan would add vegetables and selected fruit crops to our current range.
